The Geognostics team is based in Europe and Australia and combines three decades of experience in structural geology, plate tectonics, seismic stratigraphy, potential field geophysics and GIS.
Jon Teasdale, PhD Founder
After graduating from the University of Adelaide in 1992 with BSc (Hons), Jon worked as a field geologist in remote areas in Australia and Antarctica. Jon obtained his PhD from The University of Adelaide in 1997, during which he pioneered new methods for understanding poorly exposed geology. He has worked as a geological consultant for the past 20 years; initially with Etheridge Henley Williams and SRK Consulting serving the minerals industry in Australia, Africa and PNG before helping form SRK’s Energy Services division, and Frogtech in 2004, where he consulted widely in the oil, gas, coal and geothermal energy sectors in more than 30 countries on all continents.
He joined Shell in 2007 as a Global Geological Consultant mentoring Shell exploration teams worldwide, as well as providing in-house expertise on non-seismic integration and interpretation, plate tectonics, structural geology, basin modeling and risk management.
Jon formed Geognostics with Henri Tykoezinski in 2017
Lynn Pryer, PhD
Principal Geologist
Lynn is an industry-renowned expert in the integrated interpretation and modelling of gravity and magnetic data with all types of geological data to produce new geological insights for exploration – including basement-derived heat flow models. With over 30 years of consulting experience to industry and government clients all over the world, Lynn has developed a wide-ranging and comprehensive skillset, including structural geology, interpretation and integration of potential field and remote sensing data, seismic interpretation, and gravity and magnetic modelling. Lynn has held a variety of senior scientific and management positions including with SRK Consulting, Frogtech Geoscience, and currently as Principal Geoscientist with Geognostics Australia. She is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and member of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia, the Geological Society of Australia, and the Geological Society of America
Tim Debacker, PhD
Principal Geologist
Tim specialises in structural geology, tectonic evolution, geophysical and potential field data interpretation, basement mapping, deformation mechanics and basin analysis on projects across the globe. Tim graduated from the University of Ghent (Belgium) with MSc in Geology in 1996, obtained an MSc in Structural Geology and Rock Mechanics from Imperial College (UK) in 1997, and a PhD in Structural Geology from the University of Ghent (Belgium) in 2001. This was followed by a ten-year long postdoc career in Europe and New Zealand, focussing on mapping in poorly exposed areas, structural geology, soft-sediment deformation, and magnetic fabric analysis before joining Frogtech Geoscience in 2012. Tim then worked for the Flemish Government specialising in geological and policy work on the deep subsurface of Flanders and surrounding areas, with focus on geothermal potential, before joining Geognostics Australia as Principal Geoscientist in 2019.
Phil Henley Geospatial Specialist, Managing Director
Phil has over 20 years of experience in the design and management of large, complex geological studies for clients in petroleum, minerals, geothermal and groundwater sectors all over the world. He specialises in geologically focused spatial systems, software development, workflow and database design for modelling and understanding subsurface resources. Phil has held a number of high-level technical, management and executive positions including at SRK Consulting, Frogtech Geoscience and now as Managing Director of Geognostics Australia.
